Description

The County of Brunswick is soliciting sealed proposals for the removal and disposal of lime residuals generated at the 211 Water Treatment Plant. The selected contractor will be responsible for removing and disposing of residuals from the WTP site, with the goal of keeping stockpiles at or below one drying bed's worth of sludge (approximately 450 tons). The County will provide loading services during regular business hours and the contractor will be responsible for hauling and disposing of the residuals. The contractor will be paid based on the actual cubic yards of material removed from the WTP site. Key aspects of the job include: • Removal and disposal of lime residuals from the WTP site • Keeping stockpiles at or below one drying bed's worth of sludge (approximately 450 tons) • County-provided loading services during regular business hours • Contractor responsibility for hauling and disposing of residuals • Payment based on actual cubic yards of material removed • Estimated quantities generated: ~480 cubic yards (300-350 tons) per month from May to September, and ~340 cubic yards (200-250 tons) per month from October to April

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $300,000

The budget for this contract can be estimated based on the estimated quantities generated and the price per cubic yard of lime residuals. Assuming an average monthly quantity of 410 cubic yards (the average of the estimated quantities for the two periods) and a price of $50 per cubic yard (a rough estimate), the annual budget would be approximately $246,000. However, this is a rough estimate and the actual budget will depend on the final price per cubic yard and the actual quantities generated. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include: - The price per cubic yard of lime residuals proposed by the contractor - The actual quantities of lime residuals generated at the WTP site - Any changes to the scope of work or contract terms - The contractor's ability to efficiently remove and dispose of the residuals
