Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight (MALDI-TOF) Equipment

The Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship (IDALS) laboratory is seeking a Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrophotometry system for the identification of bacteria in human and animal food. The system must have a small footprint, be a benchtop model, and include an extensive library of organisms for rapid identification. The successful respondent will provide the system, including all necessary components, and ensure that it meets the requirements outlined in the bid specifications. Key features of the system include: • Compact benchtop design • Ability to speciate an extensive library of microorganisms • Traceability of users and reagents • US electrical plug • Ability to use selective or non-selective media for isolation • User-friendly software for loading/unloading the instrument and analyzing results • Remote access and monitoring capabilities • Auditory alarm for instrument failure • Email alerts for completed analysis The respondent will be responsible for providing the system, including installation, training, and support. The contract will be for a period of time to be determined, with the possibility of renewal.
