Fiber Optic Network Public Private Partnership

The City of Pasadena is seeking information from Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to determine options and alternatives for a public-private partnership to utilize the City's existing conduit, fiber cable, and utility pole infrastructure. The City aims to provide ubiquitous fiber services for residents and businesses, improve municipal operations, and establish Pasadena as a leader in community connectivity. The City is looking for experienced entities capable of providing development, construction, operations, maintenance, billing, sales, and customer support services for a fiber optic network. • The City's existing infrastructure includes approximately 1,570 miles of underground conduit, 8,150 utility poles, and 171 miles of fiber cable. • The City is seeking information on private telecom infrastructure within the Pasadena area, qualifications of owners/operators, and potential private assets that can be leveraged to avoid overbuild. • Respondents are encouraged to submit responses only for those assets and services for which they are able and qualified to leverage. • The City may pursue grant funding to assist with expanding this network infrastructure from state and federal agencies.
