Description

The Government Publishing Office is seeking a qualified printer to produce 400 custom jigsaw puzzle sets for the LSP Roman Space Telescope program. Each set consists of a 28 × 22 in. 500‑piece puzzle printed on 1.5 mm greyboard with a matte laminate finish, plus a matching box (gloss laminate) with lid and base printed full‑bleed. The contractor must provide proofs, perform die‑cutting, assemble, shrink‑wrap, label, and ship the sets to NASA Kennedy Space Center by 12 June 2026. The work must comply with GPO Quality Level 3 specifications and include a Buy‑American declaration. • Print, laminate (matte for puzzle, gloss for box), die‑cut, assemble, and shrink‑wrap 400 puzzle‑box sets. • Provide press‑quality PDF proof by 14 May 2026 and obtain “OK to print” approval before production. • Ship the finished sets (air freight if produced outside CONUS) to NASA KSC, labeling each ≤ 30 lb carton, with delivery no later than 12 June 2026.

Budget estimate

$8,000 – $15,000

Based on typical commercial printing rates for custom puzzles (≈ $12‑$18 per set including materials, lamination, die‑cut, assembly, and packaging) the total contract value is likely between $4.8 M and $7.2 M for 400 units. However, given the modest quantity and potential economies of scale, a more realistic estimate is $8,000‑$15,000 in total revenue for the contractor. The range reflects variations in material costs (greyboard vs. specialty paper), laminate type, and shipping method (air freight adds $2‑$3 K).
