Notice of Intent to Award Sole Source

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a sole source contract to provide specialized genetic expertise, strategic communication, and technical assistance to support the modernization and enhancement of newborn screening (NBS) systems. The contract aims to improve the accuracy and timeliness of disease detection, facilitate knowledge transfer, and foster collaboration among diverse public health stakeholders. The contractor will provide expert-level scientific, technical, and professional assistance to advance the mission of improving newborn disease detection and NBS outcomes. Key objectives include supporting the ED3N project, collaborating with state NBS programs and stakeholders, developing and promoting educational and training resources, and enhancing communication strategies. Some key responsibilities of the contractor include: • Serving as the subject matter expert for the ED3N project • Providing technical assistance and clinical expertise to support the interpretation of NBS-related data • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify gaps and develop and implement solutions • Supporting the development of training materials and resources • Enhancing and providing input for communication strategies
