Lower Guadalupe Dead Tree Removal

Valley Water is soliciting bids to remove up to 206 standing dead trees from the Lower Guadalupe River corridor between Montague Expressway and Highway 101 in San Jose. The contractor must develop a Tree Removal Strategy Plan, field‑mark and geolocate each tree, and maintain project records in a GIS database. Work must be performed manually with chainsaws, leaving a 2‑3 ft stump, and all debris must be chipped, hauled, and disposed of off‑site. The contract requires a valid California C‑49 Tree & Palm Contractor license, an ISA‑certified arborist on staff, at least five years of riparian‑habitat experience, and a 10 % bidder’s bond plus 100 % performance and payment bonds. The project is budgeted at roughly $2.55 M‑$2.8 M and must be completed within a two‑year period, with work beginning no later than mid‑October 2026.
