The Better Access to Treatment Project aims to increase access to Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD), mental health treatment, and social support services for individuals with substance use and mental health disorders. The project will serve low-income, Orange County, Florida residents experiencing opioid use disorder (OUD) and co-occurring mental health disorders. The scope of services includes providing opioid navigator teams, which will conduct initial brief assessments, introduce participants to MAT programs and services, facilitate appointments at outpatient clinics, and provide warm handoffs to providers in the community. The project goals include improving and expanding access to evidence-based treatment and social services, assisting participants and families navigating through the complex behavioral health care system, and interrupting the cycle of drug overdoses and readmissions to hospitals for emergency medical care.
