Description
The City of Spokane issued an Informal Request for Proposals (IRFP #5887‑23) to procure fire‑fuel‑reduction services on approximately 24.5–25 acres of city‑owned forestland. The work is silvicultural in nature, requiring thinning, pruning, brush management, and on‑site chip/masticate disposal of all cut material, with specific ecological and safety constraints (e.g., wildlife pockets, power‑line right‑of‑way access, flagger requirements). The contract was awarded to American Forest Management on a unit‑price basis (price per acre) and must be completed by June 1 2023, with the contract expiring August 1 2023.
• Scope includes tree thinning (≤ 8 in. DBH), pruning up to 10 ft, brush/masticate handling, and maintaining specified canopy spacing.
• No burning allowed; all material must be chipped or masticated, with chips limited to ≤ 18 in. tall and scattered, not piled.
• Contractor must hold Washington state business licensure, carry required insurance, and comply with Forest Practices Act and other environmental regulations.
