The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to support infrastructure projects at Intermountain Region parks. The project aims to prepare upper-class undergraduate civil/environmental engineering students for a career in engineering. The interns will assist with projects related to water supply, treatment, and distribution systems, wastewater collection and treatment systems, and roads and trails. The project promotes public purposes of education and job training, and the interns will receive hands-on experience and mentoring from National Park Service staff.
Key aspects of the project include:
• Internships will be full-time positions from mid-June to late-August, with the option to extend part-time or full-time.
• Interns will work on projects such as water system replacement at Zion National Park.
• The recipient will be responsible for recruiting and hiring interns, adhering to park service protocols, and providing personnel to assist with civil/environmental engineering needs.
• The National Park Service will provide training, mentoring, and coordination of professional development opportunities for the interns.
