Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District Office, intends to solicit and negotiate solely with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) for fish trap operations and biological sampling services at the Howard A. Hanson Dam. The services include trap operation, sample catch, trap calibration, biological data collection, data input, and in-season reporting. The WDFW will provide these services under a sole source contract, as they are the only viable source due to critical cost efficiencies, specialized equipment ownership, and established regulatory permits. • Trap operation: The trap will operate 24/7 as river flow and debris levels permit. • Sample catch: The catch will be sampled twice daily at dawn and dusk. • Trap calibration: The trap will be calibrated to estimate trapping efficiency for certain species. • Biological data: Length and scales samples will be collected for age determination. • Data input: All collected field data will be entered into a juvenile trapping database and excel spreadsheets. • In-season reporting: A summary of the status of the juvenile salmon outmigration will be provided prior to each bi-weekly Howard Hanson refill coordination conference call.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this contract is not explicitly stated in the document. However, based on the services required, which include trap operation, sample catch, trap calibration, biological data collection, data input, and in-season reporting, it can be estimated that the contract value will be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000 per year. This estimate is based on the assumption that the contract will involve the provision of specialized equipment and personnel for the duration of the project. The actual budget may vary depending on the specific requirements of the contract and the level of expertise and resources required to deliver the services. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the duration of the contract, the frequency of sampling and reporting, and the level of complexity involved in the services.
