Description

The City of West Palm Beach is seeking qualified contractors to perform laboratory analysis and testing of algal toxins found in surface waters and related process control samples on an as‑needed, non‑construction basis. The work will involve collecting water samples (or receiving them from the City), performing toxin quantification using approved analytical methods, generating technical reports, and providing data to support public health and environmental monitoring. This is a recurring need rather than a one‑time project, allowing vendors to bid for each task as it arises. • Perform accredited laboratory testing for algal toxins (e.g., microcystins, cylindrospermopsin, anatoxin‑a). • Deliver timely, accurate analytical results and technical reporting to the City’s procurement division. • Maintain compliance with state and federal environmental regulations and quality‑control standards. • Provide on‑call availability for “as‑needed” testing requests throughout the contract term. • Ensure data confidentiality and proper chain‑of‑custody for all samples.

Budget estimate

$5,000 – $50,000

No contract value is disclosed. Typical municipal water‑quality testing contracts for toxin analysis range from a few thousand dollars per test to several tens of thousands for larger sample batches or recurring service agreements. Assuming the City will request multiple analyses per year (e.g., 10‑20 tests) at an average cost of $2,500‑$2,500 per test, the annual spend could be roughly $5,000‑$50,000. This estimate accounts for laboratory labor, equipment use, reporting, and administrative overhead.
