The instrumentation shall include automated blood culture detection systems and automated organism identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (ID/AST) systems. The proposed solution should support an integrated microbiology workflow between blood culture detection and ID/AST systems to minimize manual intervention and improve operational efficiency.
• The system must support identification and susceptibility testing of aerobic organisms, as well as clinically significant yeast and fungal organisms.
• The system must be capable of detecting emerging antimicrobial resistance and clinically significant resistant organisms.
• The system must provide automated organism identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (ID/AST) for aerobic, facultative, fastidious, and anaerobic microorganisms.
• The system must have a bi-directional, bar-coded computer interface compatible with the current VA laboratory information system.
• The system must have minimal daily, monthly, and periodic maintenance.
• The system must be able to store and retransmit records in case of interface outage.
