Description

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is proposing to fund the development, dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of an evidence-based clinical practice guideline (CPG) for dental pain (surgical and non-surgical). The guideline will focus on indication-specific treatment of acute pain where such guidelines do not exist. The project aims to establish a process for disseminating, implementing, and monitoring the uptake and impacts of the CPG on opioid prescribing practices. • The project will involve the development of an evidence-based CPG for dental pain (surgical and non-surgical). • The guideline will be developed based on the recommendations of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) report. • The project will include the dissemination, implementation, and evaluation of the CPG. • The project aims to reduce the use of opioids for acute pain treatment and promote non-opioid pain management strategies.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is not specified in the document, but based on the scope of the project, it can be estimated to be in the range of $200,000 to $500,000. The factors that influence this estimate include the complexity of the project, the expertise required, and the duration of the project. The project involves the development of an evidence-based clinical practice guideline, which requires significant expertise and resources. Additionally, the project aims to reduce the use of opioids for acute pain treatment, which is a high-priority area for the FDA, and therefore, the budget may be higher to attract qualified applicants.
