B026-29 Inner District Solid Waste Removal & Recycling, Collection & Disposal

The City of Meriden is seeking bids from qualified refuse collection companies for bi-weekly Single Stream Recycling Services and weekly solid waste collection and disposal services in the City’s Inner District. The contract will be for four and one-half years, with the option to extend for up to two additional two-year terms. The successful bidder will be responsible for supplying and distributing 95-gallon containers to each participating unit, collecting refuse and recyclables, and disposing of the materials. The City reserves the right to award trash and recycle contracts to different vendors. • The contract will include approximately 7,718 Inner District participating dwelling units. • The successful bidder will be required to provide a Certificate of Insurance denoting general liability, automobile liability, workers compensation liability, and other coverage required by the City’s Risk Manager. • The City of Meriden is exempt from the payment of the excise taxes imposed by the Federal government and the Sales and Use Tax of the State of Connecticut. • The successful bidder will be responsible for obtaining any and all necessary permits required by the City of Meriden prior to the commencement of work. • The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, in whole or in part, to award any item, group of items, or total bid, and to waive informality or technical defects, if it is deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Meriden.
