Description

The City of Flint is seeking a qualified general contractor (and subcontractors) to construct a new “Chemical Systems Feed Building” as part of its Fast‑Start water‑treatment program. The scope includes site excavation, demolition, material disposal, structural steel and concrete work, interior finishes, mechanical/electrical systems, and all associated labor covered by Davis‑Bacon prevailing‑wage rates. Budget estimate

$250,000 – $1,500,000

The solicitation does not disclose a contract ceiling, but similar Fast‑Start water‑treatment building projects funded through CWSRF/DWRF in Michigan typically range from $5 million to $15 million in construction costs. Assuming a contractor profit margin of 5‑10 %, the expected earnings could be roughly $250,000 on the low end up to $1.5 million on the high end. Factors influencing the budget include the final scope of mechanical/electrical systems, site conditions, and the extent of DBE participation requirements.
