Notice of intent to sole source to Malvern

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Malvern, Inc., for an annual preventive maintenance contract for NIST's existing Malvern Panalytical Epsilon 1 X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer. The equipment is utilized by the NIST Engineering Laboratory in Gaithersburg, MD. The sole source determination is based on the need to acquire a preventative maintenance service contract for the existing Malvern equipment, which is only available through Malvern's service organization. • The contract is for the maintenance of a Malvern Panalytical Epsilon 1 X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer. • The equipment is proprietary to Malvern, and all maintenance and repairs must be performed by Malvern-certified field service engineers. • The contract is intended to ensure continuity of research efforts in the NIST laboratories. • Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirements listed above may submit their capability to do so in writing on or before the response date for this notice.
