Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is seeking information from potential vendors for a ClearWater Sensors Phosphate Sensor with Cartridge and USB Programming Cable. The sensor will be used by the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) to measure active Phosphorus in the water, which will help refine the HABs prediction model. The sensor must meet specific requirements, including being compact, weighing less than 6.8 kg, and having a detection limit of less than or equal to 0.02 uM. The vendor must provide software and communications cables, and the sensor must be able to record at least 1GB of memory. The delivery schedule is 30 days after the date of award. Some key features of the required sensor include: • Compact size, not exceeding 56 cm height and 16 cm width • Weight less than 6.8 kg in air with reagents on board • LED wavelength of 870 nm • Power consumption not exceeding 1.8W at max capacity • RS233/RS485 communications output • Detection limit of less than or equal to 0.02 uM • Range of zero to 100 uM • Internal recording of at least 1GB of memory • Sample rate of at least a sample/6 minutes • Reagents enclosed in plastic cartridges • Ability to record 1000 samples at a minimum • Depth rating of 6000m • Operation within a temperature range of 0-35 deg C • Waste stored in on-board canister • Deployment cable (open tail) 5 meters in length

Budget estimate

$10,000 – $50,000

The budget for this opportunity is not explicitly mentioned in the document. However, considering the specific requirements of the sensor and the fact that it is a specialized scientific instrument, the budget could be in the range of $10,000 to $50,000. This estimate is based on the assumption that the sensor is a relatively complex and high-tech device, and the vendor will need to provide software and communications cables, which could add to the overall cost. Additionally, the fact that the delivery schedule is 30 days after the date of award suggests that the vendor will need to have the sensor ready for immediate delivery, which could also impact the budget. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the sensor, the cost of materials and manufacturing, and the vendor's overhead costs.
