Description

The City of Champaign is seeking qualified organizations to deliver summer-focused programming and services aligned with the Community Gun Violence Reduction Blueprint. The goal is to address documented service gaps during the summer months and reduce the likelihood of violence involvement among youth. The selected programs will provide structured, supervised, and developmentally appropriate engagement during peak summer risk hours, promoting positive youth development, routine, accountability, and safe community spaces. The services will be delivered from June 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026. Some key areas of focus include summer youth programming, young teen female mental health supports, vocational and transition assistance for at-risk youth, and faith-based or community-rooted mentoring approaches. • Summer Youth Programming: providing structured and supervised activities to promote positive youth development and safe community spaces. • Young Teen Female Mental Health Supports: addressing social-emotional development, trauma exposure, and mental wellness through culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches. • Vocational and Transition Assistance: supporting youth in alternative education pathways or recent high school graduates through job readiness, skills development, and structured transition support. • Faith-Based or Community-Rooted Mentoring: leveraging trusted faith-based or community institutions to provide mentorship, guidance, and connection to broader support systems.

Budget estimate

$50,000 – $200,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $50,000 to $200,000, considering the scope of work and the fact that it is a community-based program. The City of Champaign has allocated ARPA funds for intervention programs focused on youth engagement, safe spaces, and victim support, which suggests a moderate to significant budget for this initiative. However, without a specific budget mentioned in the RFP, this estimate is based on the assumption that the program will require a substantial investment to achieve its goals. Factors influencing the likely budget include the number of participants, the intensity of services, and the duration of the program.
