Description

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is seeking a sole source provider to support the Special Project on Digital Twins Global Progress: Real-World Practices and Outcomes in the Road and Mobility Sector. The project aims to provide a synthesis of definitions, standards, and use cases for Digital Twins, as well as identify challenges and opportunities for implementation. The key questions this project will address include the definition of Digital Twins, the relationship between Digital Twins and BIM, and the current use of Digital Twins models in the Road and Mobility Sector. • The project will provide a literature review and a report on Digital Twins. • The project will identify best practices for informing stakeholders and standardization and interoperability for Digital Twins. • The project will explore the integration of Digital Twins with CAVs and new business models for road operators and national road administrations. • The project will be funded through a supplemental contribution to PIARC. • The U.S. is a member of PIARC, and FHWA is responsible for developing the country's technical and material contributions to this effort.

Budget estimate

$100,000 – $500,000

The budget for this opportunity is likely to be in the range of $100,000 to $500,000, based on the scope of the project and the fact that it is a sole source solicitation. The project involves a literature review and a report, which suggests a relatively small-scale effort. However, the project also involves international cooperation and the development of technical and material contributions, which could increase the complexity and cost of the project. The budget will likely depend on the specific requirements of the project and the qualifications and experience of the provider.
