The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program aims to improve roadway safety by reducing or eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries. The program provides funding for two main types of grants: Planning and Demonstration Grants and Implementation Grants. Planning and Demonstration Grants are used to develop, complete, or supplement an Action Plan, as well as carry out safety demonstration activities that inform an Action Plan. Implementation Grants are used to implement strategies or projects that are consistent with an existing Action Plan. Eligible applicants include metropolitan planning organizations, political subdivisions of a state or territory, federally recognized tribal governments, and multijurisdictional groups of entities. The program has a total funding available of $993,488,194 for FY 2026, with $687,809,874 available for Implementation Grants and $305,678,320 available for Planning and Demonstration Grants.
