Automated Locker Systems

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking a vendor to provide self-service automated locker systems for multiple uses across campus, including recreational equipment storage and distribution, non-perishable food storage and distribution, mail distribution, professional staff equipment checkout, and personal storage functions. The contract term will be for five years, with the option for the State to renew for up to five additional one-year terms. The vendor must provide a financial proposal, including one-time costs and annual costs for hardware and software support. The university is also interested in learning about any additional stock locker units the vendor may offer at a fixed price for the term of the contract. Some key features required for the automated locker systems include: • The ability for users to access lockers and initiate use via QR code with a mobile device • A mobile app that users must download is not favored but may be considered • Workflow must support user authentication, selection of item/locker, confirmation of use locker terms, a guided return process • Each individual locker must contain a standard power outlet, USB and USB-C charging ports • The system must allow for multiple items to be added in inventory for each locker and allow for one or multiple items within the lockers to be checked out as necessary • The system must be able to be powered by a standard 110V outlet and have Ethernet ports available for wired and wireless connections with cellular connectivity • Single Sign on Integration is preferred but not required • Cloud-based management software is required
