Description

The City of Riverside is seeking qualified contractors to install new playground equipment and a poured‑in‑place resilient rubber surfacing at Orange Terrace Community Park. The contract includes receipt, storage, transportation, and installation of city‑purchased equipment, demolition of existing surfacing, site preparation, grading, concrete work, and post‑installation testing and cleanup. The work must comply with California prevailing‑wage rules, ADA accessibility standards, and the City’s safety and environmental BMP requirements. The bid is open to holders of a California Class A or B contractor’s license and requires a 10 % bid bond. The project schedule is tight, with a 45‑day construction period following the Notice to Proceed and a $250 per day liquidated‑damage penalty for late completion. • Install playground equipment (slides, swings, climbing structures) supplied by the City. • Install poured‑in‑place rubber (resilient) surfacing meeting ASTM F1292/ F1951 standards. • Perform site work (demolition, grading, utility protection, concrete footings) and comply with BMPs, traffic control, and prevailing‑wage requirements.

Budget estimate

$200,000 – $500,000

Based on typical municipal playground projects of this scope (equipment procurement plus installation, grading, concrete footings, and resilient surfacing), total contract values in similar California cities range from $200,000 to $500,000. The lower end reflects a modest equipment package and minimal site work; the higher end accounts for larger equipment sets, more extensive grading, and higher material costs for the rubber surfacing.
