Background Checks

The City of Columbia is seeking a contractor to provide comprehensive background screening services for applicants, employees, and other individuals. The contractor will be required to provide identity verification, criminal history searches, registry checks, employment verification, education and credential verification, and credit reports. The contractor must also comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing background screening services. The contract period will be for one year with the option to renew for four additional one-year periods. • The contractor must provide an electronic ordering system for submitting requests for background screening services. • The contractor must provide a secure web-based portal for applicants to authorize background screening and submit personal information. • The contractor must deliver documentation of results electronically to authorized City personnel. • The contractor must comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and all applicable laws and regulations. • The contractor must provide training to its employees and subcontractors on recognizing and responding to identity theft red flags.
