Commercial Driver’s License Training

The City of Newport News is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide classroom and behind-the-wheel training for various classes of Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs) for City employees. The training program should include classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction, and the contractor should provide all necessary training materials and equipment. The City estimates that up to 70 employees may require training per year. The contractor should have experience providing similar training services and should be able to demonstrate their understanding of the requirements and their approach to providing the services. • The contractor should provide a detailed description of their approach to providing the training services, including their experience and qualifications. • The contractor should provide a price proposal that includes all costs associated with the program, including classroom training materials, fees, behind-the-wheel training, and testing. • The contractor should have the capability to provide training at a designated City facility or at their own training facility. • The contractor should be able to provide training Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, with a one-hour break period. • The contractor should be able to provide a training curriculum that does not exceed a three-week period of 40 hours per week. • The contractor should be able to provide all necessary training materials, simulators, and other classroom materials to successfully provide instruction to City employees. • The contractor should be able to provide refresher training, remedial instruction, or other related CDL training as needed and requested by the City.
