The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement to the University of New Mexico for a project to conduct a preliminary evaluation of structural elements and ancient plasters at White House and Antelope House Ruin. The project aims to establish priorities for additional assessment, modeling, and analysis, and to identify types of plaster deterioration and areas with a high priority for treatment. The project will be completed in multiple phases, with the first phase involving assessment visits to diagnose deterioration conditions and estimate their extent. The project will also include educational and training components, with university students, NPS staff, and practicing professionals participating in portions of the work.
• The project will focus on structural issues, including geotechnical issues, masonry and wood condition and capacity, rodent/pest management, environmental conditions, and drainage.
• The project will also assess plaster deterioration and identify areas with a high priority for treatment.
• The project will include a conference call with the park to discuss options for additional assessment, analysis, and treatment.
• The project will result in a completion report that will include a narrative description of the project goals, methodology, results of analysis, and recommendations for ongoing treatment and monitoring.
