Description

The City of Salina is seeking a qualified contractor to fully demolish a dangerous residential structure located at 1616 West Crawford Street. The contractor must remove all building components, disconnect and seal utilities, dispose of debris at the City landfill, back‑fill and compact the site, and obtain all required permits. The contract is a single‑award, lump‑sum bid with a 5 % bid security, performance and payment bonds equal to the contract price, and a 90‑day completion window after the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages of $50 per day apply for delays, and a two‑year warranty follows final completion. • Complete demolition of the house, foundations, utilities, and any associated structures; remove debris (max 8 loads/day). • Secure and seal water, gas, electric, telephone, and sewer lines; obtain utility inspections before burial. • Obtain demolition permit, provide site safety barricades, perform soil compaction testing, and back‑fill to ≥ 95 % dry density. • Submit required bonds, insurance certificates, and retain records for three years; warranty period of two years after final completion.

Budget estimate

$20,000 – $60,000

No contract price is disclosed, but typical demolition costs for a two‑story residential structure range from $10‑$30 per square foot, plus disposal and permit fees. Assuming a 2,000 sq ft home, the bid would likely fall between $20,000 and $60,000. Factors influencing the final amount include site access, hazardous material presence, number of loads to the landfill, and any required utility reinstatement.
