Electrical Utility Transformer & Door

The San Mateo County Parks Department is seeking a contractor to remove and replace a high-voltage electrical transformer and a single door on a separate transformer unit located within Coyote Point Recreation Area. The existing transformer enclosure is in poor condition, and replacement is necessary to address safety concerns. The project involves preparation and safety measures, disconnecting the transformer, removing the old transformer, preparing the pad and site, installing the new transformer, reconnecting cables, testing and energizing, and final steps. • The project requires the contractor to verify clearances and permits, confirm the transformer is de-energized, and post lock-out/tag-out procedures. • The contractor must inspect and prep the pad for access, attach lifting eyes or rigging to the transformer, and use a crane, boom truck, or forklift to lift the transformer. • The contractor must reconnect primary and secondary cables, verify phasing, and test the transformer. • The project also involves removing and replacing a single door on a separate transformer unit, including safety precautions, door removal, door installation, and finalization.
