Description

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites applications for support of investigator-initiated studies addressing mechanisms by which bariatric surgery impacts cancer risk. The goal of this funding opportunity is to draw in talented scientists who study bariatric surgery to investigate its effects on cancer, rather than shorter-term outcomes such as weight loss and diabetes. Key aspects of the job include: • Investigating the mechanisms by which bariatric surgery impacts cancer risk • Studying the effects of bariatric surgery on cancer • Focusing on longer-term outcomes such as cancer risk rather than shorter-term outcomes like weight loss and diabetes • Submitting applications for grant funding to support these studies The opportunity is open to a variety of eligible applicants, including private institutions of higher education, public and state controlled institutions of higher education, and non-profit organizations.
