The Fingerprinting Infrastructure Modernization for Child Welfare program aims to support state and tribal child welfare agencies in modernizing their fingerprinting and background check infrastructure. The program will provide funding to enable agencies to improve the timeliness and accuracy of fingerprint-based background checks, increase the availability and accessibility of qualified caregivers, and improve the capacity of agencies to place children more quickly in safe, stable, and nurturing homes. The program will focus on four core activities: completing a gap analysis and defining solutions, purchasing and installing fingerprinting equipment, establishing metrics to track progress, and developing a sustainability plan.
• The program will provide funding for a two-year project period with one budget period.
• The program will support ACF’s A Home for Every Child initiative by aligning infrastructure investments with operational needs.
• The program will address ACF’s priority of Ensuring Value Alignment in Funding by improving the timeliness and accuracy of fingerprint-based background checks.
• The program will provide technical assistance and support to grantees to ensure successful implementation and sustainability of the project.
• The program will require grantees to submit performance and financial reports to track progress and outcomes.
