Description

The New Jersey Department of Education is offering a continuation grant (FY 2027) to 27 public Local Education Agencies that received the original FOCUS 2 award. The grant supports the purchase, implementation, and sustained use of high‑quality universal literacy screeners for kindergarten through grade 3, along with associated professional development and data‑driven instructional support. Funds are reimbursed on a per‑student basis ($8 per K‑3 student) and must be used for screening tools, training, coaching, data analysis, and related implementation activities. • Purchase and deploy state‑aligned universal literacy screening kits for K‑3 students. • Provide comprehensive professional learning, coaching, and ongoing support to educators for administering and interpreting screener data. • Develop screening protocols, data‑tracking systems, and sustainability plans, and submit monthly reimbursement requests and a final report by October 31 2027.
