Description

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation is issuing a notice of adoption of a Categorical Exclusion determination for the Yakutat Airport Water Line Extension project. The project involves constructing 18,000 feet of water distribution main and a booster pump station to extend piped water service from the existing public water system. The City and Borough of Yakutat has requested $20,700,000 in grant funds for this project. The key aspects of the project include: • Construction of 18,000 feet of water distribution main along Airport Road • Construction of a booster pump station • Extension of piped water service from the existing public water system • Addressing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination near the airport The project is eligible for a Categorical Exclusion because it will not significantly affect the degree of treatment or capacity of the existing facility, will not directly or indirectly affect cultural resources or environmentally important natural resources, and will not have a significant effect on the quality of the human environment.

Budget estimate

$15,000,000 – $25,000,000

The budget for this project can be estimated based on the grant funds requested by the City and Borough of Yakutat, which is $20,700,000. This amount may cover the construction costs of the water distribution main and booster pump station, as well as other project-related expenses. The actual budget may vary depending on the project's complexity, location, and other factors. A reasonable estimate for the budget range could be between $15,000,000 and $25,000,000.
