The National Park Service intends to award a task agreement to North Carolina State University for the development of a GIS database for the Overmountain Victory Historic Trail. The project aims to expand geospatial data relative to the trail and corridor, conduct a trail status inventory, and update a public web-based GIS platform. The project will also involve collaboration with conservancies, land trust organizations, and local governments to identify protected areas and develop a web-based mapping interface. The key objectives of the project include providing a full inventory of protected trail segments, updating and maintaining the public web-based GIS platform, and developing a web-based GIS platform accessible to NPS staff.
• Collaborate with conservancies and land trust organizations to identify protected areas within the trail corridor
• Work with local governments and stakeholders to gain a better understanding of certified protected segments along the trail corridor
