Altermagnetism for devices (Altered B) Request for Information (RFI)

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is requesting information on areas of research related to altermagnetism and its applicability to advanced electronic devices. Altermagnetism is a recently discovered type of magnetic ordering that exhibits features of both ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism. The goal is to design and construct practical electronic and spintronic devices that exploit altermagnetism. Key areas of focus include: * Characterization of altermagnetism * Device construction and switching proposals * Technical challenges and fundamental limitations of altermagnetic devices * Comparison of altermagnetism to state-of-the-art computing architectures * Anticipated improvements in device performance using altermagnetism
