Description
The U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), is seeking information on device-assisted security features for future generations of U.S. currency. The features should be novel, not otherwise in commercial use or the public domain, and easy to authenticate by the public using a ubiquitous, readily available, and low-cost device.
Some key points to consider include:
* The features should be extremely difficult to simulate or duplicate but easy to authenticate by the public.
* The user devices should be readily available for public users to obtain commercially.
* The BEP is interested in testing and evaluating technologies and/or materials with potential application in device-assisted, user-interpreted counterfeit deterrent features.
* Respondents are requested to submit preliminary samples and a brief technical description.
* The Government reserves the right to use any non-proprietary technical information in any resultant solicitation(s).
