Description
The State of New York is soliciting qualified contractors to renovate the historic Saranac Lake Train Depot, converting the existing structure into a 3,900 sf public‑use building while preserving historic elements. The work includes full demolition and hazardous‑material abatement, structural repairs, new construction of partitions, doors, windows, roof, and interior finishes, as well as complete mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems upgrades. The project is budgeted at $1 M – $2 M and requires compliance with the 2025 NY Energy and Building Codes, plus historic preservation requirements.
• Scope covers all trades: general construction, HVAC (heat‑pump chiller, ERVs, fan‑coil units), plumbing (new fixtures, water‑heater, back‑flow preventers), and electrical (service upgrade, lighting, fire‑alarm, data cabling).
• Pre‑bid site visit scheduled for 11/18/2026; bids must be submitted by 12/02/2026.
• Contractor must hold NYS‑certified MWBE status (optional) and maintain required digital ID and bonding registrations.
