The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to Groundwork USA for the Groundwork Southcoast Capacity Building project. The goal of this project is to build the capacity of Groundwork Southcoast to undertake projects and programs that engage the communities they serve in locally-led projects and programs to improve their economy, environment, and quality of life. The project objectives include undertaking planning and development activities to engage Groundwork Southcoast in the clean-up and reuse of brownfields and derelict lands, building trails and park improvements, improving access to healthy foods and urban agriculture, and participating in community benefit of environmental resiliency planning and emergency preparedness.
• The project will support the development of a local Groundwork Trust organization in a community impacted by brownfields and other derelict lands.
• The project will assist in the creation, promotion, facilitation, and/or improvement of the public's understanding of natural, cultural, historic, recreational, and other aspects of areas such as ecological conservation areas and state and local parks.
• The project will motivate its youth participants to become involved in the natural, cultural, and/or historical resource protection of their communities and beyond.
