COMPREHENSIVE HEALTHCARE SERVICES

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is soliciting proposals for comprehensive healthcare services for the Detention Facility. The selected contractor will provide medical and dental health services to persons in custody, including psychiatric services, and will be responsible for delivering care that meets or exceeds local, state, and federal standards. The contract will be for an initial term of one year, with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods. The contractor will be required to provide a comprehensive program that meets the general and unique medical and dental needs of inmates housed at the facility. • The contractor shall provide a designated licensed practicing physician (Medical Director) to assure the appropriateness and adequacy of inmate healthcare. • The contractor shall provide a health services administrator to plan, organize, and coordinate professional and technical medical staff. • The contractor shall maintain a comprehensive medical record keeping system and maintain financial accountability to the Contract Administrator. • The contractor shall provide well-defined operational policies and procedures, including those required by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. • The contractor shall adhere to all policies and procedures prescribed by the Facility relating to safety, custody, and conduct of inmates.
