The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of providing isotope analyses. The work requires whole-rock samplings of mafic-ultramafic igneous and evolved intrusive igneous rocks for smarium-neodymium, uranium-lead, and rubidium strontium isotope analyses. The contractor will provide deliverables including Sm-Nd, Rb-Sr, and U-Pb elemental and isotopic compositions of the 25 samples submitted. The work will be completed within 12 months from the award of the contract.
• The contractor must have an internationally recognized and reputable isotope geochemistry lab.
• The lead isotope geochemistry expert of the lab should have a Ph.D degree and have 5 or more additional years of experience.
• The lab must be able to analyze the samples using recognized spikes, separation methods, standards, and instrumental techniques to meet the typical precision for analyses reported throughout the literature.
• The contractor will communicate with the USGS on a regular basis and in case of any unforeseen complications with the rock samples submitted.
