Description
The City of Stebbins proposes to construct and operate new water and wastewater systems to address sanitation deficiencies in the community. The project will include the construction of new water supply facilities, wastewater disposal facilities, and water and sewer distribution mains. The proposed activity will result in the discharge of dredged and/or fill materials into waters of the United States, including wetlands. The City of Stebbins is seeking a Section 401 Water Quality Certification from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation to ensure that the discharge will comply with applicable water quality requirements. Key aspects of the project include:
• Construction of a new raw water intake and transmission line
• Construction of a new sewage lagoon and outfall
• Installation of a new water distribution system and sewer collection system
• Upgrade of existing infrastructure to minimize wetland impacts
The project is expected to last for approximately 60 months, from August 1, 2026, to December 31, 2031.
