Iridium Upgrade SP8000 RFI

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Strategic Materials Directorate is seeking information for the potential acquisition of services for the separation and purification of approximately 200 lbs of a government-furnished spent 405 catalyst into 99.90% pure iridium metal sponge. The material is 3mm to 5mm in diameter and is composed of an alumina bead with a total iridium content of approximately 30% Iridium by weight. Interested vendors should submit their response as well as any questions through email to the contract specialist. The response should include a capability statement with general data, process information, industry and market information, delivery information, and additional information. • The vendor should provide a capability statement that includes company name, parent company, structure, GSA contract number, socioeconomic status, CAGE code, UEI number, size of business, mailing address, and primary point of contact. • The vendor should describe their process for the recovery and purification of iridium metal sponge, including the separation of the alumina bead from the recoverable iridium. • The vendor should provide an estimate of the time required to complete recovery and purification of the example feedstock. • The vendor should describe any known impurities that have adverse effects on process efficiency and what controls they have in place to prevent concentration of hazardous materials.
