Lakewood Board of Education is seeking a qualified contractor to provide student transportation (school‑bus) services for the 2026‑2027 school year. The contract is a one‑year, competitive sealed‑bid award covering all required routes, vehicles, drivers, aides, and related operational support. Bidders must submit a complete package of certifications, insurance, bonds, and equipment confirmations, and must meet strict vehicle specifications (National School Bus Glossy Yellow, model year 2017 or newer, wheelchair‑lift buses 2015 or newer) along with mandated safety and reporting systems.
• Provide fully equipped school buses (type A, B, C/D) with radios, GPS, DVR, child‑alert, and required sensor systems.
• Supply qualified drivers (NJ CDL with P & S endorsements) and aides where required, complete background, drug/alcohol, TB, and annual certification filings.
• Deliver bi‑annual vehicle inspections, maintain detailed logs for 5 years, and submit monthly attendance & invoice packages; penalties apply for late reporting, accidents, or non‑compliance.
• Financial requirements include a 5 % bid guarantee (capped at $50k), a performance bond equal to the total annual contract value, and $5 M automobile liability insurance plus workers’ comp.
