Description

The Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity (DHACA) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with the University of Notre Dame for a study to test innovative antibacterial nanoparticles with phage-mimicking properties against combat-relevant multi-drug resistant strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The goal of this study is to bring novel therapeutics to military healthcare and contribute to FDA approval of this innovative therapy, leading to reduced morbidity and mortality rates. • The University of Notre Dame will conduct the study as the collaborative partner and patent owner of the unique technology. • The technology was awarded a patent in 2024 - US-12161725-B2. • The government anticipates that the collaborative efforts will contribute to FDA approval and lead to substantial contributions to broader biosecurity initiatives and civilian health improvements.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $2,000,000

The budget for this opportunity is difficult to estimate as the document does not provide a specific amount. However, considering the project involves research and development of innovative antibacterial nanoparticles, the budget could be substantial. The project's goal is to contribute to FDA approval, which could lead to significant financial returns. A possible estimation could be in the range of $500,000 to $2 million, considering the project's scope and potential impact on military healthcare and broader biosecurity initiatives. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the project's duration, the number of personnel involved, and the costs associated with research and development.
