Notice of Intent to Sole Source - Brevard County South Reach Sea Turtle Surveys and Monitoring

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District intends to modify an existing contract with The University of Central Florida on a sole-source basis to survey nesting, threatened and endangered sea turtle species at the project footprint of the Brevard County South-Reach project. The University of Central Florida is the only Marine Turtle Permit Holder for the Brevard County locations identified in the Performance Work Statement (PWS), making them the only qualified contractor to perform the services. The scope of work includes sea turtle monitoring and surveys. • The project requires a sea turtle monitor who must be permitted by the state. • The University of Central Florida is the only contractor qualified to perform the services due to their Marine Turtle Permit Holder status. • The contract will be modified to include additional monitoring due to a delay in the project implementation schedule.
