BANKRUPTCY ATTORNEY Re-RFQ

The City of East Orange is seeking a bankruptcy attorney to provide legal services on an as-needed basis. The selected attorney will provide advisory services, representation in proceedings, collections and enforcement, and reporting and communication. The attorney must be licensed to practice law in New Jersey, have at least 5 years of experience handling bankruptcy matters, and demonstrate the ability to manage a large volume of cases efficiently and cost-effectively. The contract will be for a period of one year, with an hourly rate of $165.00. • The attorney will provide legal guidance to the City regarding potential bankruptcy filings by individuals or entities with obligations to the City. • The attorney will enter appearances in bankruptcy court on behalf of the City and prepare and file proofs of claim, objections, motions for relief from stay, adversary complaints, or other pleadings as needed. • The attorney will represent the City in hearings, mediations, or settlement conferences related to bankruptcy proceedings. • The attorney will assist with enforcement of municipal liens, tax obligations, and other receivables impacted by bankruptcy proceedings. • The attorney will provide regular updates to the City’s Corporation Counsel, Finance Department, and other designated officials.
