The National Park Service intends to award a single source justified cooperative agreement to Conservation Legacy for the project "Increase Visitor Satisfaction on Trails Utilizing Volunteers to Improve Visual Quality & Safety". The project aims to recruit and train a youth intern to perform volunteer coordination, volunteer project coordination, and volunteer recognition. The intern will work with park partners in various volunteer community projects, including large-scale volunteer projects where local communities will participate in park beautification projects. The project will assist in the creation, promotion, facilitation, and/or improvement of the public's understanding of natural, cultural, historic, recreational, and other aspects of areas such as ecological conservation areas and state and local parks.
• The project will provide a safe and challenging environment for youth to develop professional skills.
• The project will engage youth interns, recruited by Conservation Legacy, to expand youth community outreach.
• The interns will work with Canal Towns along the park to engage youth that have roots in the communities adjacent to the park.
• The project will enhance the CHOH volunteer program's social media outreach to recruit volunteers from America's next generation.
