Description

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking information on the utility of surface-enhanced Raman spectrometry in biodetection. The goal is to develop a SERS nanostructure prototype to detect bioagents of interest to DHS components and their stakeholders. The project may involve a period of performance of up to 36 months. Key components of the project include the development of a SERS nanostructure prototype, a Raman platform, and an adaptive signature library. * The SERS nanostructure prototype must adhere to cell surface proteins of a select agent. * The SERS nanostructure must be designed to give the optimal spectral signal for select agents. * The Raman platform must work efficiently with the SERS nanostructure prototype. * The adaptive library must be cloud-based and have the capability to update monthly.

Budget estimate

$500,000 – $5,000,000

The budget for this project is difficult to estimate as the document does not provide a specific budget or funding amount. However, based on the scope of the project, which involves the development of a SERS nanostructure prototype and a Raman platform, the budget could be in the range of $500,000 to $5 million. This estimate is based on the assumption that the project will require significant research and development efforts, as well as the procurement of specialized equipment and materials. Factors that may influence the likely payment range include the complexity of the project, the number of respondents, and the level of funding available to the DHS.
