Hearing Examiner & Pro Tem Hearing Examiner RFQ | City of Olympia

The City of Olympia is seeking a Hearing Examiner and a Pro Tem Hearing Examiner to conduct quasi-judicial public hearings on land use matters. The selected respondents will be responsible for hearing appeals, variances, and other land use applications, and issuing written decisions. The City is looking for qualified individuals with experience in land use planning, zoning, and administrative hearings. The contract is expected to be for a duration of two years, with an option to extend for an additional two years. Key aspects of the job include: • Conducting public hearings and issuing written decisions on land use matters • Providing mentorship to individuals seeking to advance into the profession of providing hearing examiner services • Adopting and administering Rules of Procedure • Holding public meetings and quasi-judicial proceedings • Ensuring compliance with state and local laws, including the State Environmental Policy Act and the Olympia Municipal Code
