Rural Food Locker Program

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking information from potential contractors to provide food locker services to Veterans in rural areas. The food lockers will provide a secure and convenient way for Veterans to access healthy food, especially those who face transportation or scheduling barriers. The services will include the storage and distribution of perishable and non-perishable items, as well as the provision of medically tailored groceries to address diet-related diseases. The contractor will need to have experience in providing similar services and have the capability to customize options for medically tailored groceries. • The food lockers will be accessible 24/7 to decrease barriers such as work schedule or transportation. • The system will allow for customization options for medically tailored groceries to promote food medicine programming. • Dietitians can prescribe customized grocery bags to address diet-related diseases. • The contractor will need to have a General Services Administration Federal Supply Schedule or other ordering vehicle. • The contractor will need to provide relevant information to help determine if the requirement is commercially available.
