Regulated Medical Waste Collection & Disposal

Virginia Tech seeks a qualified contractor to provide end‑to‑end regulated medical waste (RMW) services across multiple campus locations. The awardee will collect, transport, and dispose of regulated waste, supply and manage containers, handle shredding of confidential documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local hazardous waste regulations. The contract will be for an initial three‑year term with two optional three‑year extensions, and the vendor must meet stringent safety, insurance, and reporting requirements. • Collect, package, and dispose of RMW from labs, animal‑isolation facilities, and medical centers (minimum 3 pickups/week on main campus, 1‑week elsewhere). • Provide containers (30‑gal cardboard boxes, 96‑gal reusable plastic containers, 28‑gal containers) and consumables (liners, tape, sharps containers). • Perform off‑site secure shredding of confidential documents with required manifests and proof‑of‑destruction. • Comply with Virginia DEQ 7‑day dwell limits, maintain weight‑scale‑equipped vehicles, and furnish a written safety program and insurance coverage.
