Forecast to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) (U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

The National Cancer Institute intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET). The purpose of CISNET is to use simulation modeling to extend evidence provided by trial, epidemiologic, and surveillance data to guide public health research and priorities across the cancer continuum. Applications are not being solicited at this time, but potential applicants are encouraged to begin considering applying for this new NOFO. The NOFO will utilize the U01 activity code, and investigators with expertise and experience with comparative simulation modeling methods for cancer control are encouraged to apply. Some key aspects of this opportunity include: • The use of simulation modeling to guide public health research and priorities • The focus on cancer control and intervention • The encouragement of collaborative investigations combining expertise in decision modeling, statistics, health economics, epidemiology, computer science, medicine, and public health • The utilization of the U01 activity code • The estimated application response date of November 7, 2025, and the estimated award date of August 1, 2026.
